Jeremy Clarkson poignant statement on ‘autumn years” of his life
Jeremy Clarkson has issued a poignant statement about the “autumn years” of his life.
The 66-year-old former Top Gear and Grand Tour presenter has been on our screens for more than 40 years.
In recent years, he has been farming on his 1,000 acre farm in Chadlington, near Chipping Norton, which he bought in 2008.
Documented in the Amazon Prime TV series Clarkson’s Farm, the show has enjoyed much global success and ushered in a new era for Mr Clarkson who found fame as a motoring journalist.
In a new interview with the Times, Mr Clarkson revealed how he got into the agricultural life in his 60s.
He said: “I was born in the countryside so it’s only natural I would want to enjoy it now in my autumn years.”
Mr Clarkson added that his other motivation was driven by a sense of urgency around food shortages.
“Scientists calculate that we have just 90 years before we run out of food, because of soil depletion,” he told the newspaper.

The first few of episodes of Clarkson’s Farm are released on Wednesday, June 3, before further episodes are released on the following two Wednesdays: June 10 and June 17.
Filming for series six of Clarkson’s Farm is already underway, with that additional season expected to be released next year in 2027.
The latest series will explore Mr Clarkson’s heart health scare, a farmer’s protest he attended and spoke at in Westminster and other troubles faced by British farmers.
