Jeremy Clarkson breaks down in tears after heartbreaking death at Diddly Squat Farm

Jeremy Clarkson’s partner consoled the farmer after he made a heartbreaking decision.

Clarkson’s Farm has returned for a new series for the show’s fifth season. Jeremy Clarkson broke down in tears during an emotional episode. The former Grand Tour presenter is back once again sharing his life on Diddly Squat Farm with the first four episodes released on Prime Video on Wednesday.

The programme follows the former Top Gear star’s attempts to run Diddly Squat Farm, a 1,000‑acre holding near Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds. Having debuted in 2021, the show documents everything from livestock and crop failures to red tape, planning rows and village tensions.

In heartbreaking scenes, the 66-year-old was overcome with grief after he was faced with the realisation that his prized pigs aren’t making him enough money and was forced to send the majority of them to the abattoir.

A butcher warned him that the herd was not yielding enough meat to make financial sense, leaving Jeremy with little option but to let them go, a decision that clearly hit him.

By the end of episode four, Jeremy explained he had the “dreaded” task of letting his much-loved pigs go.

“I had known there was only one option,” he admitted.

He told land agent Mr Ireland: “I love the pigs, I have absolutely… I have just been delighted every day I’m down there.

“They make my heart sing, I’m so happy. But we are running a business here, and they make no financial sense at all.”

“It was even harder to say goodbye to the next group,” he added, noting that this batch included one of the original sows they had bought three years earlier.

“It’s for the better good,” Kaleb Cooper assured him, to which Mr Clarkson replied: “It’s still f****** sad.”

Jeremy and girlfriend Lisa Hogan have been breeding the pigs for a number of years now, and the star was left in tears as he bid them an emotional farewell.

As he and Lisa say goodbye to them, it all becomes too much for Jeremy and with his back to the camera, he puts his face in his hands and rubs his eyes. Clearly upset, a concerned Lisa comes over to him and gives her beau a big hug and strokes his head as he holds her tightly and cries.

While he made the heartbreaking decision to send the majority to an abattoir, two of them, Clumsy and Swizz, have instead been sent to live on an educational farm.

Jeremy added: “I couldn’t really have handled it if they’d gone off to be eaten.”

The first four episodes of series five of Clarkson’s Farm are available on Prime Video now.
