Clarkson’s Farm Stars Join Pink Tractor Parade for Breast Cancer Charity
Clarkson’s Farm Stars Ride Pink Tractor in Witney for Charity
The familiar faces from Clarkson’s Farm have once again made headlines — this time not for farming challenges or humorous banter on Prime Video, but for lending their popularity to an important cause. Alan Townsend and Gerald Cooper, who won fans’ hearts through their appearances alongside Jeremy Clarkson at Diddly Squat Farm, were spotted in Witney this past weekend driving a bright pink tractor as part of a moving charity event.
Familiar Faces Beyond the Farm
Alan Townsend and Gerald Cooper first appeared on Clarkson’s Farm during its third and fourth series. Known for their no-nonsense approach and ability to keep Jeremy Clarkson grounded during his often chaotic farming ventures, both men quickly became recognizable not just in Chadlington, but across Oxfordshire.
Their work on the show extended beyond the farm itself. Fans will remember their involvement in getting The Farmer’s Dog pub in Burford ready for customers, a project that proved both ambitious and full of laughs. Since then, Alan and Gerald have become somewhat local celebrities, often spotted by fans when out and about.
Witney in Pink Day: A Celebration With Purpose
The event that drew the pair to Witney was Witney in Pink Day, an annual celebration with a powerful purpose. The initiative, founded 25 years ago by Jeanne Chattoe, trustee of Against Breast Cancer and chair of the Witney Action Team, transforms the town into a sea of pink. Shops, businesses, and residents decorate the town, while parades and community events take place throughout the day, all aimed at raising money for breast cancer research.
This year, Witney once again lived up to its reputation, with participants of all ages joining in. From decorated storefronts and cakes baked for charity stalls, to volunteers in bright costumes carrying collection buckets, the town was united in its mission.
The Pink Tractor With a Purpose
At the center of this year’s parade was a striking vehicle: the Pink Fordson tractor. The machine, originally painted pink as part of a restoration project, has become a symbol of fundraising thanks to Anna Griffiths, the Northamptonshire-based woman behind the initiative.

Anna has toured the tractor across the UK, using it to raise money for various charities. Her first cause was Dementia UK, a charity especially close to her heart after losing both of her grandparents to the disease. Through years of determination, she has raised more than £14,000 for dementia research.
This time, however, Anna turned her efforts toward breast cancer research, motivated by personal loss — a dear family friend and one of her best friends passed away at a young age from the disease.
Alan and Gerald Step In
Anna Griffiths was quick to highlight the role Alan Townsend and Gerald Cooper played in making this year’s Witney in Pink Day so successful.
“I painted my tractor pink for a restoration project, then thought that while I was at shows I may as well fundraise,” she explained. “But I couldn’t not be a part of this event as Against Breast Cancer is also a charity so close to my heart.”
According to Anna, Alan and Gerald’s support has been invaluable since she first met them at the Martson Steam Show two years ago, where they were celebrity guests.
“We got talking there and they’ve been amazing ever since,” she said. “They walk around the arena with collection buckets and help spread the word. This weekend, they both spent all day with me collecting money, and together we raised more than £500.”
Community Spirit on Display
Alan Townsend and Gerald Cooper weren’t just celebrities lending their faces to a cause. They actively engaged with locals, chatted with attendees, and used their recognizability from Clarkson’s Farm to inspire people to donate.

For many, seeing the pair outside of the farm and pub was a reminder of how much the Clarkson’s Farm cast has become part of the Oxfordshire community. What began as Jeremy Clarkson’s personal experiment with farming has grown into a beloved show that highlights the challenges and triumphs of rural life, while giving real local farmers a platform.
A Thank-You From Witney
Following the event, Jeanne Chattoe expressed her gratitude to all who made Witney in Pink Day possible.
“Thank you to everyone who made Witney in Pink so special,” she said. “From the fundraising team, collectors, and cake makers to the businesses and hospitality venues who joined in, and the entertainers and volunteers who gave their time — Witney was just wonderful.”
The sense of togetherness was undeniable. With residents, visitors, celebrities, and volunteers all pulling in the same direction, the event was more than just a fundraiser. It was a statement of solidarity against breast cancer, a disease that touches countless lives each year.
Why It Matters
Breast cancer research relies heavily on community initiatives like Witney in Pink Day. While major donations and corporate support are important, grassroots efforts keep awareness alive in towns and villages across the UK. When familiar faces like Alan and Gerald get involved, they not only raise money but also inspire fans of Clarkson’s Farm to pay attention and support the cause.
Their involvement demonstrates how television fame can be used positively. Rather than simply enjoying their newfound recognition, the two farmhands have chosen to channel it into charity work. It’s a reminder that even small actions, like carrying a collection bucket, can have a big impact.
A Legacy Beyond the Screen
Clarkson’s Farm has often been praised for giving real farmers visibility in an era where agriculture faces immense challenges. Alan and Gerald’s appearance in Witney shows that the stars of the show are more than just television personalities — they are members of their communities who care deeply about making a difference.
With more than £500 raised in just one day, Witney in Pink Day was another example of how community, compassion, and even a pink tractor can combine to create meaningful change.
