Jeremy Clarkson invited to Slade rock legend’s Oxford gig
Jeremy Clarkson Invited to Slade’s Oxford Gig by Rock Legend Dave Hill
Rock legend Dave Hill, guitarist of the iconic band Slade, has extended a special invitation to Jeremy Clarkson to attend the band’s upcoming gig at Oxford’s O2 Academy. The performance is part of Slade’s final tour, and Hill, who is a big fan of Clarkson’s shows, is eager to see the Clarkson’s Farm star at the event.
In an exclusive interview with the Oxford Mail, Hill shared his excitement for the gig and said, “I should invite him to the gig, so hey Jeremy, do you want to come to the show? I’m sure he would like our music because he is of that age.” Hill, who has lived in the area for years, believes Clarkson would appreciate their music and added that Clarkson’s humor would fit well with the fun atmosphere of the show.

Hill also reminisced about Clarkson’s earlier television days on Top Gear with James May and Richard Hammond, citing his love for the humor behind Clarkson’s crazy driving antics. “There was a real funny side to the craziness of what he was doing with the driving shows,” Hill said. “Half the car would be missing, and he’s driving up the road. You’d have to be him to get away with that; no one else would!”
In addition to his admiration for Clarkson’s past work, Hill revealed that he enjoys watching Clarkson’s Farm, which is filmed in Oxfordshire. “Jeremy, now there’s a guy! I bet he’s a Slade fan,” he joked. Hill went on to praise Clarkson’s wit, saying, “Jeremy Clarkson is very clever, and I obviously liked Top Gear with the crazy drives, and now it is so funny watching him buy massive tractors which look ridiculous for a simple job.” Hill also mentioned that viewers love Clarkson’s show because of his ability to make tasks look difficult while subtly showcasing his competence.
As for a potential visit to Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog, Hill expressed interest, though with one caveat. “Depending on where I have to go after the gig, it could be a possibility that I stop by Jeremy’s pub,” Hill said. However, when it comes to the drinks menu, Hill admitted that he isn’t a fan of beer. “I’m afraid he wouldn’t get that side of me because I hate beer, but I do like wine,” he added, humorously suggesting that he would prefer a glass of wine over a pint of Clarkson’s Hawkstone lager.
Dave Hill’s Slade will perform on Tuesday, December 16, at the O2 Academy in Oxford, marking a significant moment in the band’s final tour. Clarkson’s potential appearance would surely add to the fun, creating an intriguing crossover between the world of rock and farming television. Fans of both the legendary rock band and Clarkson’s shows are eagerly awaiting the gig, with a sense of excitement brewing for what promises to be a memorable event.
