Clarkson Praises the Show — but Questions Its Authenticity

Jeremy Clarkson has stirred fresh debate after suggesting that BBC’s smash-hit The Traitors may not be as unscripted as viewers believe.
While he calls the show a “belter,” he also insists that years of TV experience have taught him one thing: nothing on television is ever entirely real.

Clarkson explained:
“Come on, I’ve worked in television for 30 years. You’re not going to spend that much money on a programme where there’s a risk it all falls to pieces. I don’t know how they’re doing it, but I bow down to them.”

“They Must Be Influencing It” — Clarkson’s Behind-the-Scenes Theory

When asked directly whether producers might be guiding contestants off-camera, Clarkson didn’t hold back:
“They must be — and I’m not being a cynic. I know how television is made. You can’t actually say to a contestant, ‘Say this’ or ‘Say that,’ but… well…”

He added that the impressive drama of The Traitors might come from “unbelievably painstaking editing” rather than pure chance.

Why Clarkson Would Never Join the Celebrity Version

Despite fans calling him a perfect fit for the next celebrity spin-off, Clarkson rejected the idea instantly.
“I wouldn’t in a million years. I’ve got ten jobs already — why would I want eleven?”

He joked that fellow Grand Tour presenters wouldn’t rush to join either, although he says Richard Hammond might actually do it.

What’s Next for The Traitors

The BBC has confirmed the new season will kick off with a three-night launch event:

  • Episode 1: New Year’s Day, 8pm
  • Episode 2: January 2, 8pm
  • Episode 3: Date still to be announced

With growing excitement and Clarkson’s comments stirring conversation, the new season of The Traitors is likely to draw even more attention—both on-screen and off.
