Fletcher’s Family Farm Just Got Bigger — and Fans Can’t Get Enough of the New Arrival

Kelvin and Liz Fletcher Welcome a New Arrival to Their Farm After Feeling Something Was Missing

A Family Finding Their Rhythm on the Farm

ITV’s Fletcher’s Family Farm has become a heartfelt favourite among viewers, offering a glimpse into the real-life journey of former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher, his wife Liz, and their growing family as they manage their picturesque Cheshire farm.

In Sunday’s upcoming episode, the couple open up about feeling like something on the farm “was missing” — and they decide to make a small but meaningful addition to their menagerie.

A New Addition: Meet the Cockerel

While the Fletchers have been raising a variety of animals, Liz noticed their four hens seemed to be “playing by their own rules.” That observation sparked an idea — it was time to bring a cockerel into the mix.

Talking to their daughter Marnie, Liz explained the reasoning:

“Well, you know, we’ve got the four hens, but we’ve never had a cockerel, have we?
And if we have a cockerel, when the hens lay their eggs, then they would be fertilised into chicks.”

To make it happen, Liz and Marnie visited a nearby farm, where breeder Emily helped them choose the perfect bird for their property.

When Liz asked how the new cockerel might fit in, Emily reassured her:

“They’ll just chat amongst themselves about, ‘Who’s this new guy and what are his intentions?’
They might go through a bit of a dating phase.”

“It Feels Like Something the Farm Was Missing”

After selecting their cockerel, Liz reflected on how much the new arrival meant to her and the family:

“Today’s been amazing. We wanted that traditional cockerel look — he looks like he’s got something about him, and it feels like it’s something that the farm was missing.”

Laughing, she added:

“I think Kelvin… you know, two alphas looking at each other. He might square up to the cockerel and be like, ‘Who’s the boss of this farm?’ But he’ll know it’s the cockerel.”

Liz described the new addition as a small but exciting step forward:

“This is the next teeny little bit of expansion at the farm, just the next little addition that’s exciting, fun. He’s very good-looking — a handsome chap.”

Joy and Heartbreak on the Farm

The episode also delivers a bittersweet mix of emotions. While the family celebrate their new cockerel and learn that one of their cows is pregnant, the joy is soon overshadowed by sad news.

The vet informs Kelvin and Liz that another of their cows has miscarried and become infected, a painful reminder of the highs and lows of farming life.

A Growing Connection to the Countryside

Through every challenge and triumph, Fletcher’s Family Farm continues to show the couple’s deepening bond with the land — and each other.

From learning to care for livestock to celebrating new beginnings, Kelvin and Liz’s journey proves that life on a farm is as unpredictable as it is rewarding.

And as Liz said best, sometimes it’s the smallest additions — even a cockerel — that make a farm finally feel complete.
