Lisa Hogan ‘heartbroken’ after tragic loss at Diddly Squat Farm
Jeremy Clarkson Shares ‘Sad’ Clarkson’s Farm Update as Lisa Faces Tragic Loss
After the huge success of Clarkson’s Farm, 65-year-old broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson has shared a bittersweet update about life on his Diddly Squat Farm — and the emotional impact it’s had on his partner Lisa Hogan.

A New Chapter: Diddly Squat: The Farmer’s Dog
Jeremy Clarkson has officially released his new book, Diddly Squat: The Farmer’s Dog, the fifth installment in his popular Clarkson’s Farm series. The book explores his experiences running Diddly Squat Farm, opening his own pub — also called The Farmer’s Dog — and surviving another chaotic year of life as an unconventional farmer.
In a short video shared online, Jeremy proudly stood in front of the book section of a shop, holding up his latest work.
“Look at this, it’s my new book, The Farmer’s Dog,” he said. “It’s about a year on the farm and what it was like to open a pub, and I thought I’d read you an excerpt from it, give you a flavour.”
He jokingly added,
“We can’t find a reindeer, so I’m having to use a normal deer with antlers taped to its head. Exciting stuff!”
Clarkson even compared it playfully to the Gavin & Stacey book When Gavin Met Stacey and Everything in Between, saying, “Better than that.”
Lisa Hogan’s Sheep and the Lighter Moments on the Farm
Fans can read a free sample of the book online, where Clarkson recounts a hilarious story about Lisa Hogan buying five sheep “for no reason.”
He wrote:
“They were expensive to buy and have no faces, so they look like they’re from a horror film. We can’t ever sell or eat them. Instead, we just have to wait for the day when they think of a particularly revolting way of killing themselves. And then Lisa will be sad, and I’ll have to pretend I’m sad as well.”
These humorous passages capture the mix of affection and frustration that has made Clarkson’s Farm so relatable to viewers worldwide.

Heartbreak on Diddly Squat Farm
However, behind the humor lies a much sadder reality. Recently, Jeremy revealed that the first calf ever born on Diddly Squat Farm had to be destroyed due to bovine tuberculosis (TB) — a devastating blow for the team.
He explained that the cow, who was pregnant with twins, tested positive for TB and had to be put down immediately to prevent further spread of the disease.
In a moving Instagram post, Clarkson wrote:
“This was the first calf ever born at Diddly Squat. And this morning she was destroyed, while pregnant with twins, because she has TB. So sad.”
The news comes as the farm continues to face ongoing challenges with regulations, disease control, and the emotional toll of livestock management — realities that viewers rarely see behind the TV cameras.
A Mix of Triumph and Tragedy
While Clarkson’s Farm has earned widespread acclaim for its humor and honesty, this latest update reminds fans that life in the countryside isn’t always idyllic. Between the launch of The Farmer’s Dog and the tragic loss of his calf, Jeremy Clarkson’s year has been one of both laughter and loss — and one that fans will no doubt see reflected in future seasons of the show.
