Jeremy Clarkson Takes Swipe at James Corden’s Gavin & Stacey While Promoting New Book

Clarkson’s Farm Star Launches New Book

Jeremy Clarkson couldn’t resist taking a cheeky jab at fellow TV star James Corden while promoting his latest book, Diddly Squat: The Farmer’s Dog.

The 65-year-old broadcaster — best known for Top Gear, The Grand Tour, and Clarkson’s Farm — was seen poking fun at Corden’s hit comedy Gavin & Stacey during a recent promotional video posted to Instagram.

Clarkson’s new release marks the fifth instalment in his popular Diddly Squat book series, which chronicles his adventures running Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire and, more recently, managing his new pub, The Farmer’s Dog.

A Year on the Farm and Behind the Bar

The book, released on Wednesday, October 22, takes readers through a year in Clarkson’s farming life — from battling weather and livestock to his experiences as a newly minted pub landlord.

Clarkson purchased the former pub, The Windmill, last year for around £1 million and transformed it into The Farmer’s Dog, named after the same title as his latest book.

Clarkson’s Playful Dig at James Corden

In a short video shared on social media, Clarkson was filmed standing in the book section of a shop holding a copy of his new release.

He told fans:

“Look at this, it’s my new book, The Farmer’s Dog.
It’s about a year on the farm and what it was like to open a pub. I thought I’d read you an excerpt from it — give you a flavour.”

Then, with his signature dry humor, he joked about one of the scenes:

“We can’t find a reindeer, so I’m having to use a normal deer with antlers taped to its head. Exciting stuff, The Farmer’s Dog.

Moments later, Clarkson pointed toward a copy of When Gavin Met Stacey and Everything in Between — the official Gavin & Stacey companion book — and quipped:

“Better than that.”

Corden’s Connection to Oxfordshire

The jab was all in good fun, but it didn’t go unnoticed by fans. Interestingly, both Clarkson and Corden share a connection to Oxfordshire, where they each own property.

Jeremy Clarkson: Vermögen, Freundin & seine Farm

Corden, who co-created and starred in Gavin & Stacey alongside Ruth Jones, made headlines in April last year when he was granted permission to demolish a 1960s home near Henley, which he had purchased the previous year.

After a year-long wait for approval — and objections from South Oxfordshire District Council and English Heritage — the demolition was finally given the go-ahead.

A Classic Clarkson Moment

Clarkson’s lighthearted jab at Corden is typical of his humor — sharp, spontaneous, and perfectly timed. Fans flooded his Instagram comments, laughing at the playful rivalry and applauding his ability to turn even a book promo into an entertaining moment.

Between his farming adventures, his pub venture, and now his latest book release, Jeremy Clarkson continues to prove that his brand of wit and authenticity keeps audiences hooked — whether he’s behind the wheel of a tractor or behind a camera.

About The Farmer’s Dog

Diddly Squat: The Farmer’s Dog follows on from Clarkson’s previous bestselling books, offering a witty and candid look at life on the land. From his often chaotic farming escapades to the triumphs and failures of rural business life, the book captures Clarkson’s unfiltered take on what it means to be Britain’s most unlikely farmer.

And if his latest jab at James Corden is anything to go by, Jeremy Clarkson’s humor — much like his farm — shows no signs of running dry anytime soon.
