The Next Diddly Squat Icon? Clarkson’s Pig “Richard Ham” Joins the Brand

Jeremy Clarkson Moves to Trademark His Pig “Richard Ham” for Merchandise Range

From Farmyard Favorite to Trademark Star

Jeremy Clarkson is turning one of Clarkson’s Farm’s most beloved animals into a brand.
The 65-year-old TV presenter has reportedly filed an application with the UK Intellectual Property Office to trademark the name “Richard Ham”, the now-famous pig from his hit Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm.

The application seeks exclusive rights to use the name across a wide range of products — including clothing, cookbooks, gardening tools, homewares, and Christmas decorations — expanding the Clarkson’s Farm brand beyond television.

The Pig Who Captured Fans’ Hearts

The move follows the unlikely rise to fame of the pig nicknamed Richard Ham, who became a breakout star on Clarkson’s Farm.
Named after Jeremy’s former Top Gear co-presenter Richard Hammond, the animal was originally the runt of its litter and faced being put down.

However, Clarkson decided to spare the piglet — a decision that became one of the most heartwarming and memorable moments of the show’s fourth series. Fans quickly fell in love with the story, flooding social media with praise for the farmer’s compassion.

Lisa Hogan Shares Update

Just days before news of the trademark application broke, Jeremy’s partner and Clarkson’s Farm co-star Lisa Hogan shared an update on Richard Ham’s progress.

In a video posted to social media, the once-tiny pig could be seen towering over his pen, snuffling into the camera.
Lisa playfully remarked:

“Yes, you’re huge… it’s because you’ve been hand-fed for all these months.”

The video delighted fans, who were amazed to see how much the pig had grown since his early days on the show.

A Natural Fit for Clarkson’s Expanding Brand

According to The Sun, Clarkson’s production team submitted the trademark application earlier this month as part of a broader strategy to expand his Diddly Squat Farm brand.
The farm — based on Clarkson’s 1,000-acre estate in Oxfordshire — has already become a thriving business, boasting the Diddly Squat Farm Shop, a line of Hawkstone beers, and various branded products.

A source close to the production told the paper that Clarkson sees Richard Ham’s popularity as “a natural fit” for new merchandise opportunities tied to the Clarkson’s Farm universe.

A Pig with Purpose

Richard Ham’s story represents more than just a viral moment — it embodies the blend of humor, heart, and humanity that has made Clarkson’s Farm a hit around the world.
From struggling to survive as the runt of the litter to becoming a cherished pet — and now, potentially, a brand mascot — his journey mirrors the unpredictability of life on the farm.

Jeremy’s decision to trademark the pig’s name signals just how far his rural venture has come since he took over the farm in 2019, following his longtime farmer’s retirement.

Clarkson’s Farm: From TV Show to Global Phenomenon

Since debuting in 2021, Clarkson’s Farm has become one of Amazon Prime Video’s most successful factual series, praised for its humor, authenticity, and emotional depth.

The show follows Clarkson’s often chaotic efforts to manage Diddly Squat Farm alongside partner Lisa Hogan and young farmer Kaleb Cooper. Viewers have come to love the mix of stunning countryside visuals, unpredictable farming disasters, and genuine moments of triumph.

Now, with Richard Ham potentially joining the growing lineup of farm-branded products, Clarkson’s empire seems poised for yet another expansion — one that proves, in typical Clarkson fashion, even a pig can become a star.
