Chatsworth Country Fair 2025: Harriet Cowan to Lead as President

Thousands are expected to flock to the 42nd Chatsworth Country Fair this summer, with Derbyshire-born Harriet Cowan announced as the event’s president.

The 24-year-old farmer, who rose to national attention through her appearance on Clarkson’s Farm, has become a fresh voice for British agriculture. Known for her honesty about the challenges of modern farming, Cowan grew up on her family’s livestock farm in Belper and has been farming her whole life.

The three-day fair runs from Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31, promising a vibrant celebration of rural life with entertainment, food, shopping, and hands-on activities for the whole family.

A Packed Programme

In the Grand Ring, visitors will be treated to breathtaking displays, from freestyle motocross stunt riders to medieval jousting tournaments and falconry demonstrations. A flypast from a Lancaster Bomber will bring history to life in a show-stopping moment.

The skies above Chatsworth will also come alive with the much-loved hot air balloon display, featuring more than 75 balloons in every shape and design imaginable — from animals and birds to quirky creations like screwdrivers and aliens.

Food & Drink

Food lovers can look forward to a feast of inspiration. Celebrity chef Nisha Katona, founder and CEO of Mowgli Street Food, will make her Chatsworth debut, joining TV favourites James Martin and Phil Vickery in the cookery theatre. Together with some of Derbyshire and the Peak District’s most celebrated chefs, they’ll showcase dishes that highlight seasonal and locally sourced produce.

The Fine Food Village will give visitors the chance to sample and purchase artisan products, from cheeses and chutneys to freshly baked goods and spirits, all crafted by regional producers.

Fun for Families

Children and families will be spoiled for choice with attractions such as the vintage funfair, climbing wall, and bungee trampolines. Under expert supervision, young adventurers can also try their hand at pony riding, archery, and fly-fishing.

Even four-legged friends are welcome — with visiting dogs invited to tackle the dog agility course or compete in the Family Fun Dog Show.

Shopping & Entertainment

Those seeking a slower pace can explore the shopping village, featuring more than 250 stalls selling homeware, clothing, accessories, and unique gifts from talented local makers. Chatsworth’s own Farm Shop and gift shops will also showcase the very best from the estate.

Celebrating Rural Life

Event organiser Sarah Green said:

“The country fair has become a highlight in the calendar for people across the UK, and we’re thrilled to welcome visitors back for another unforgettable year. We’re especially excited to welcome Harriet Cowan as our country fair president, and renowned chef Nisha Katona, both making their debut appearances at the event.”

Last year’s presidents were Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher and his wife, Liz, who have themselves embraced farming in the Peak District — a nod to the growing public fascination with modern farming life.

Advance adult tickets are available online for £32.50 until August 28, or £35 on the gate. Carers and children aged 15 and under go free when accompanied by a paying adult.
