Jeremy Clarkson says ‘all Oxfordshire roads have failed’ in scathing attack
Jeremy Clarkson – ‘all Oxfordshire roads have failed’
Jeremy Clarkson has slammed Oxfordshire’s roads saying they have “all failed” amid frustration with potholes.
The former Top Gear and Grand Tour host lives on the 1,000 acre Diddly Squat farm covering Chadlington near Chipping Norton in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds.

Writing in the Sun, the 65-year-old journalist turned farmer questioned why Oxfordshire County Council is not fixing the roads despite being aware of the potholes.
He said: “On a lane near where I live, the local council has put up a sign saying: “Failed Road Surface”.
“And I can’t help wondering why they’ve singled out this little lane for special attention.
“Because so far as I can tell, ALL of the roads in the county have failed surfaces.
“Which causes me to wonder about something else.
“If they know the surface has failed, why don’t they mend it?”
Oxfordshire County Council has been approached for a reply.

In 2024, the Clarkson’s Farm star previously criticised the state of Britain’s roads, describing one stretch he drove on as being “Madagascar bad” adding: “Only three of my teeth survived.”
Oxfordshire County Council previously said the heavy rainfall and then colder weather from mid-December into January has created a cycle of freezing and thawing, in other words the perfect conditions for creating new potholes.
In response to this, the authority said additional teams and resources are being made available to repair the potholes.
