Jeremy Clarkson hit with fan backlash over new TV show

Jeremy Clarkson Faces Viewer Criticism Over New TV Format

Jeremy Clarkson has come under criticism from viewers following the launch of his latest television project, with many fans voicing disappointment over the show’s debut.

The broadcaster is best known as part of the long-running presenting trio with James May and Richard Hammond, fronting Top Gear and later The Grand Tour. In recent years, Clarkson has also found major success away from motoring television.

From Diddly Squat to Prime-Time Quiz Shows

Clarkson bought Oxfordshire’s Curdle Hill Farm in 2008, later rebranded as Diddly Squat Farm. The Cotswolds location became the centrepiece of Clarkson’s Farm, which has grown into one of Prime Video’s most successful factual entertainment series.

Alongside the farming show, Clarkson has been working on a new quiz programme for ITV, a spin-off from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, titled Millionaire Hot Seat.

Viewers React to Millionaire Hot Seat UK Launch

The first episode of Millionaire Hot Seat aired on ITV1 earlier this month, but early audience reactions were mixed.

Several viewers took to social media platform X to share their frustration with the programme’s format, with many criticising what they saw as excessive contestant discussion and a lack of tension compared to the original Millionaire series.

Comments included complaints about the pacing, frequent interruptions before answers were given, and concerns that the format felt rushed and repetitive. Some viewers questioned whether the show would be renewed beyond its first run.

Concerns Over Format Changes

A recurring criticism focused on the departure from the traditional Millionaire structure. Viewers suggested that the revised format removed much of the suspense that made the original programme so popular, describing the experience as less engaging than expected.

While some acknowledged Clarkson’s familiarity with quiz-style presenting, others argued that the format itself, rather than the host, was the main issue.

Clarkson’s Farm Set to Return Despite Criticism

Despite the reaction to Millionaire Hot Seat, Clarkson’s television schedule remains busy. A new series of Clarkson’s Farm is already in the pipeline.

Filming for the sixth season wrapped in September, with eight new episodes expected to arrive on Prime Video later this year. The farming series continues to attract strong viewing figures and remains a cornerstone of Clarkson’s current television success.
