Clarkson’s Farm star kicks off village’s annual fun run
A Clarkson’s Farm star kicked off an annual fun run in Oxfordshire between Christmas and New Year.
On December 27, Chadlington in west Oxfordshire turned out in force for the annual Great Brook Run.
Organisers say this reaffirmed the village’s long-standing tradition of community spirit and charitable support.
Entirely volunteer-run, the event remains a much-loved fixture in the local calendar.
Held outside The Tite Inn, the run was started by local resident Gerald Cooper, as runners of all ages take on muddy fields and through a cold, wet brook.
Mr Cooper is a beloved member of the team in the Prime Video series set at Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington near Chipping Norton.
An expert on dry-stone walls but hard to understand due to his accent, the TV personality quickly became a fan favourite on the show.
Some ran competitively, others at a gentler pace, but all shared a common purpose: supporting three local charities.
Funds raised from the event will support The Old Bakehouse, Homeless Oxfordshire, and Sobell House Hospice.
Of particular significance this year was The Old Bakehouse, a newly established local charity and one of Chadlington’s most notable community success stories of 2025, providing affordable supported living for residents over 60 after being saved from closure through local determination and fundraising.
Spectators lined the route throughout, offering encouragement and creating a warm, supportive atmosphere despite the winter conditions.
The event’s short, informal course and inclusive nature once again underlined its focus on participation rather than competition, say the organisers.
Runners gathered for warm drinks after crossing the finish line.
