Oak Island Season 12 Episode 21: Bricks – Secret Treasure and Shocking Discovery in Oak Island Swamp

The Curse of Oak Island: Season 12, Episode 21 – A Medieval Game-Changer

A Silent Swamp Hides a Shocking Secret

Picture this:
An unassuming patch of swampy land lies silent under the Nova Scotian sky. But beneath the muddy surface, something ancient, unexpected, and explosive waits to be uncovered.

In this week’s explosive episode of The Curse of Oak Island, the team makes a discovery so distinct — so radically out of place — it might just rewrite everything we thought we knew about Oak Island’s early visitors.

A Treasure Hunt Like No Other

If you’ve followed Rick, Marty Lagina, and the team from the beginning, you know Oak Island isn’t just a treasure hunt — it’s a swirling vortex of mystery, legend, and heartbreak. Just when the story seems to quiet down, boom — a new clue emerges to throw everything into question.
And that’s exactly what happened this week.

Discovery of an Ancient Musket Piece

While digging near what might be a man-made dam in the northern swamp, metal-detecting expert Gary Drayton and landowner Tom Nolan unearthed what appears to be an iron socket.
At first glance, it looked like rusted scrap. But Gary quickly realized it could be part of an old musket — specifically, a ramrod guide, possibly dating back to the 16th century.

This is massive:
A 16th-century musket part would predate the discovery of the Money Pit and suggest armed visitors — possibly even Knights Templar or Knights of Malta — were here centuries ago.

A Brick that Hints at a Second Vault

Just steps away from the musket find, the team discovered an old handmade brick, eerily similar to bricks lining the top of a previously unearthed vault-like structure.
However, this brick wasn’t part of the original vault — suggesting the possibility of a second hidden vault on the island.

Tom Nolan believes this supports his legendary father Fred Nolan’s theory that multiple treasure caches exist on Oak Island. Could they be closing in on proof?

Lot 5: A Medieval Time Capsule

Meanwhile, over on Lot 5, Jack Begley and archaeologist Fiona Steel continued excavations at a mysterious circular feature near the shoreline — a spot that has already yielded incredible finds like:

  • A 14th-century lead barter token
  • Four Venetian trade beads
  • A rare counterclockwise starburst-patterned button

During their digging, Fiona uncovered a square nail, possibly pre-1795, maybe even medieval.
But the real shock came next: she unearthed a wound glass bead — different from the earlier Venetian beads.

Scientific Breakthrough: The Forest Glass Bead

At the lab, Emma Culligan used X-ray fluorescence spectrometry to analyze the bead. The results were astonishing:

  • 26% Potassium content — extremely high
  • Almost zero Sodium — unheard of for Venetian glass

This wasn’t Venetian at all. It was Forest Glass, made from ferns instead of sand — a medieval technique from Northern Europe, dating back to the 1400s.

In other words, this bead could be 600 years old and evidence of medieval Europeans visiting Oak Island long before Columbus set sail.

The Pieces Are Falling into Place

Let’s connect the dots:

  • A ramrod guide near a man-made dam
  • A mysterious brick suggesting a second vault
  • A medieval square nail
  • A rare wound Forest Glass bead

All these clues point to one overwhelming conclusion:
Something very old, very intentional, and very valuable happened on Oak Island.

These weren’t random fishermen or traders — these were highly organized, possibly elite operatives, hiding something powerful enough to warrant centuries of secrecy.

Lot 5: A Hidden Staging Ground?

Lot 5 is shaping up to be a historical time capsule, offering evidence of multiple waves of visitors — possibly Templars, the Knights of Malta, or other secretive orders — operating across generations.

Oak Island wasn’t a pirate pit stop; it may have been a hidden staging ground for organizations guarding secrets far greater than gold — maybe even knowledge that could change history itself.

The Big Questions Remain

As we piece together the story, bigger questions emerge:

  • What exactly were they hiding?
  • Who were they protecting it from?
  • And are we finally standing on the cusp of the truth?

Oak Island is speaking louder than ever — and if these clues from Season 12, Episode 21 are any sign, the island is almost ready to reveal its greatest secrets.
