Parker Schnabel Reveals the Biggest Nugget He’s Ever Found — And It’s Surprisingly Small
Parker Schnabel: The Golden Legacy of Gold Rush’s Young King
From Teen Miner to Millionaire
Parker Schnabel is no stranger to dirt, risk, or gold. The Gold Rush star has spent his entire adult life chasing pay dirt across Alaska and the Yukon — and turning it into fortune. Known for breaking single-season gold haul records, Schnabel has built a reputation as one of the youngest and most successful miners in the history of the show.
His mix of youthful drive, business savvy, and relentless work ethic has earned him a loyal global fan base. He often engages directly with his audience, answering personal and professional questions during live Q&A sessions online.
The Rarest Find: A Quarter-Ounce Nugget
When asked on Facebook about the largest gold nugget he’s ever mined, Parker gave a surprisingly modest answer.
“We don’t find a lot of big nuggets. It’s mostly fine gold,” he explained.
In Dawson, Alaska, where his crew currently works, large nuggets are a rarity. The biggest one he’s personally found was only about a quarter of an ounce, worth around $400 to $500 at the time. Given today’s gold prices, that small nugget would be worth significantly more.
Parker noted that in his area, for every 1,000 ounces of gold, his team might only find two to four nuggets of that size. By contrast, his grandfather John Schnabel, who ran the family’s Big Nugget Mine in Haines, Alaska, often found much larger pieces back in the day.
Gold Rush Glory: Breaking Records and Barriers
While Parker’s operation rarely turns up massive nuggets, his focus has always been on volume — and it’s paid off. From his early days working for his grandfather, Parker has been breaking production records.
- Season 3 (Age 18): Hauled in 55 ounces in one week, worth about $88,000 — setting the tone for his career.
- Season 9 (2018): Mined 955 ounces in one week, topping $1 million.
- Season 11 (2020): Hit a jaw-dropping 2,294 ounces, worth $4.4 million.
- Season 12 (2021): Surpassed even that with a weekly weigh-in worth $2 million.
Operating two major wash plants — Big Red and Slucifer — Parker has mined over 48,000 ounces of gold, valued at more than $70 million. Across the first twelve seasons of Gold Rush, his total career haul is estimated at over $150 million in gold.
Trials, Triumphs, and the Spirit of the Yukon
Schnabel’s success hasn’t come without hardship. In the Yukon’s treacherous terrain, his crew has faced everything from frozen ground and flooding to mechanical breakdowns. Yet Parker’s leadership and calm under pressure have kept his team on track.

One of his most memorable adventures came during the “King of the Klondike” chapter, when his crew struck an extraordinary 50-ounce nugget while mining Eureka Creek — a discovery that cemented his reputation as one of the best young miners in the business.
“That nugget was more than just gold,” Parker reflected. “It was a symbol of everything we worked for — the long days, the failures, and the belief that we could pull this off.”
Carrying the Schnabel Legacy Forward
Mining runs deep in Parker’s blood. Inspired by his grandfather John Schnabel, he started running his own crew while still a teenager — and never looked back. Each season, he pushes further into uncharted territory, driven by the same hunger that made him a legend of the modern gold rush.
Though the Klondike may no longer hold the world’s largest nuggets, Parker Schnabel’s true gold is his relentless ambition. His empire — built from the ground up — continues to grow, inspiring a new generation of miners who dare to dream big and dig deeper.
