Kirsten Storms is taking an extended break from her longtime role as Maxie Jones on “General Hospital.”

Storms, 41, plans to move from Los Angeles to Nashville with her 11-year-old daughter, Harper, the actress said in an Instagram video posted Monday, July 7. Storms also revealed that she has already filmed for final scenes for now.

“I’m very excited to be making Tennessee my home! I can’t wait to return to GH, once Harper and I are settled in our new town,” Storms wrote in the caption. “I plan on documenting as much of this new journey on my social media as I can. It’s always been a dream of mine to move to a place like this, it’s hard to believe it’s really happening.”

Storms had been planning her time off since March. At the time, she had a conversation with “General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini about her move.

“When you approach a job like this, they can always be like, ‘Forget it, I will let you out of your contract if you’re going to leave the state.’ GH did not do that, which was kind of amazing because I also asked for some time off,” Storms said in the Instagram video.

The actress, who already had her final taping day for the year, is expected to return to the popular soap opera in November or December.

“I promise you the story line they have going on until my return to Port Charles is kind of incredible,” Storms said. “You guys are gonna freak out actually.”

Storms rose to fame during her teenage years as a television actress. She appeared in several Disney Channel productions, most notably the 1999 TV movie, “Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century.” Storms also appeared in more than 400 episodes of “Days of Our Lives” and started voicing Bonnie Rockwaller on the hit cartoon series “Kim Possible.”

Storms joined the cast of “General Hospital” in 2005. She has played the part of Maxie Jones ever since, vacating the role in fall 2011 due to endometriosis and again in 2014 for maternity leave.
