Will Deadliest Catch Return for Season 22? Here’s What We Know

As Deadliest Catch Season 21 approaches its conclusion on October 31 with a two-part finale, viewers are already asking the big question: Will the long-running Discovery Channel series return for Season 22?

The reality hit, which first premiered in 2005, has been a staple of the network for two decades, documenting the high-risk world of Alaskan crab fishing. Season 21 premiered on August 1, 2025, but Discovery has not yet announced a renewal for the next season.

Renewal Status: No Official Confirmation Yet

Discovery typically announces renewals close to premiere dates. Season 21 wasn’t confirmed until June 2025—less than two months before its debut.
If the network follows a similar pattern, viewers may have to wait well into 2026 for official word.

Still, given the show’s longevity and continued strong viewership, industry expectations lean toward a renewal.

Possible Premiere Window for Season 22

Without a renewal, there is no confirmed premiere date. Historically, the show aired new seasons in March or April for 19 consecutive years.
However, recent seasons have shifted later:

  • Season 20: Premiered June 11, 2024
  • Season 21: Premiered August 1, 2025

If Season 22 goes ahead, fans should expect a 2026 release, potentially mid-year based on recent trends.

Who Might Return for Season 22?

The official cast lineup won’t be confirmed until Discovery renews the series, but several captains and crew members from Season 21 are expected to return, including:

  • Jake Anderson
  • Keith Colburn & Mouse Colburn
  • Steve “Harley” Davidson
  • Johnathan Hillstrand
  • Rick Shelford
  • Mandy Hansen
  • Clark Pederson

Sig Hansen’s Future Remains Uncertain

One major question mark is longtime star Sig Hansen.
In the Season 21 finale preview, Sig experiences a medical emergency onboard the F/V Northwestern, appearing dizzy and briefly unconscious. Despite concerns, he refuses to call the Coast Guard.

Sig previously suffered two heart attacks and told People magazine earlier this year that he wants more time with his family after decades at sea.
However, he made it clear he is not ready to retire and believes he still has a few more years left, leaving the door open for a Season 22 return.

Is There a Trailer for Season 22?

No trailer exists, as the series has not been officially renewed. A preview would likely be released only when a premiere date is confirmed.
