Kelvin Fletcher announces new arrival to farm in ‘exciting’ pregnancy announcement
Kelvin Fletcher Announces New Arrival to His Family Farm in Heartwarming Pregnancy Update
Joy Returns to the Fletcher Farm
Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher shared some wonderful news during Sunday’s episode of Fletcher’s Family Farm. The actor-turned-farmer revealed that one of his most beloved cows, Ruby, is pregnant again — a moment that brought immense joy to the Fletcher household.

The announcement was especially emotional because Ruby had previously suffered a miscarriage, leaving Kelvin and his family heartbroken. Now, with confirmation from the vet that Ruby is 14 weeks into her pregnancy, hope and excitement have returned to their Cheshire farm.
From Heartbreak to Hope
Speaking ahead of the vet’s visit, Kelvin reflected on the difficult journey Ruby had faced.
“Several weeks ago, we got the sad news that our much-loved cow Ruby miscarried her calf,” he shared.
Despite the setback, Ruby made a strong recovery and was soon ready to rejoin the herd. Kelvin added with optimism:
“Thankfully, she was soon well enough to run with our young bull again, and today, we’ll find out if he’s done his job.”
The vet, Hugo, was on hand to examine Ruby — and after a tense few moments, he delivered the news everyone had been hoping for: Ruby was expecting again.
Vet Confirms Ruby’s 14-Week Pregnancy
The moment of truth came when Hugo, the family’s trusted veterinary surgeon, scanned Ruby and confirmed the pregnancy.
“Okay, so we’ve got a pregnancy,” he said, smiling. “She’s about three months in calf, maybe closer to 14 weeks, judging by the size.”
Kelvin’s reaction was immediate — relief and happiness washed over him as he celebrated the news.
“That’s good news! She’s back in calf — that’s the main thing, and it’s healthy. So she’s unfortunately going to miss the Cheshire Show, but I’m just thrilled she’s doing well,” he said.
Dreaming of the Royal Cheshire Show
Kelvin revealed that he’d been hoping Ruby’s new calf would arrive in time for next year’s Royal Cheshire Show, where his children — who are young handlers — could present their animals.
“Four children and the young handlers. That’s my dream from last year,” he smiled. “So fingers crossed.”
While the timing means Ruby will miss the 2025 show season, Kelvin’s focus is on her health and the safe arrival of her calf.
“I’m so thrilled for Ruby,” he added warmly. “She produced such a cracking calf last year. I just hope this one is a simpler birth.”
Routine TB Testing Brings Reality Back to the Farm

Beyond the happy announcement, the episode also showcased the real challenges of farm life. Vet Hugo was also on-site to conduct routine TB testing on the cattle — a legal and necessary procedure carried out every six months in England and Wales.
Kelvin explained to viewers:
“Anybody who keeps cattle has to go through this every six months. If you do get a reaction, and if they deem it conclusive, that animal needs to be culled. It’s devastating on your herd.”
The sobering task served as a reminder that life on the farm comes with both joy and heartache — and that every healthy birth is something to celebrate.
A Hopeful Season Ahead
As the episode came to a close, Kelvin reflected on the journey of the past few months — from the sorrow of losing Ruby’s calf to the renewed hope her pregnancy brings.
For the Fletchers, Ruby’s pregnancy isn’t just a sign of new life — it’s a symbol of resilience, compassion, and the never-ending rhythm of farm life.
“That’s the main thing,” Kelvin concluded. “She’s healthy, she’s happy, and she’s back in calf.”
