Kelvin Fletcher admits ‘it’s not been easy’ as he issues farmhouse fire update
Kelvin Fletcher Breaks Silence: “It’s Not Been Easy” After Devastating Farmhouse Fire
Kelvin Fletcher has opened up about the emotional and practical struggles his family has faced since a fire severely damaged their farmhouse last October. The incident occurred while the Fletchers were away on their first holiday as a family of six — a moment that quickly turned from joy to devastation.

A Difficult Return: Farmhouse Declared Uninhabitable
During their holiday, Kelvin received a shocking call from a neighbour. Their farmhouse was on fire. By the time they returned, the property was unlivable.
Speaking on This Morning, the former Emmerdale star reflected:
“It was heartbreaking. We weren’t there, so we weren’t harmed, and the animals were ok — that’s the positive we held on to. But the damage… it’s a huge inconvenience.”
Restoration work is now underway, and Kelvin says there is finally “light at the end of the tunnel.”
Life in Temporary Accommodation: “A Lot of Upheaval”
In the latest episode of Fletcher’s Family Farm, Kelvin revealed the family has been living in temporary rented housing since the fire.
In a voiceover, he admitted:
“We’ve had a lot of upheaval in our lives. Managing the farm while living somewhere else has been a real challenge.”
Despite the stress, Kelvin continues to focus on the work ahead — preparing his cattle for the Royal Cheshire Show.
Preparing for the Royal Cheshire Show: A Needed Boost
Kelvin shared a tender moment with his young son, telling him they’d be taking their calves to the show. The little boy’s excitement brought a rare smile to Kelvin’s face.
“I don’t want to add extra stress, but this event feels worth it,” he explained.
The Hidden Hardship of Farm Life: Maintenance Never Ends

Elsewhere in the episode, Kelvin highlighted one of farming’s toughest tasks — staying on top of constant maintenance.
He admitted:
“The hardest thing about this life is the upkeep. It’s huge.”
Thankfully, help arrives every Thursday.
A Lifeline: Volunteers Helping Keep the Farm Going
Kelvin praised the volunteers from the David Lewis Centre, a group he also supports as an ambassador.
“They’ve become a big part of our lives here. Their help has made a massive impact.”
From hedge work to small daily tasks, the volunteers have provided emotional and practical relief during a very difficult period.
Looking Forward With Hope
Though the past months have tested the family, Kelvin remains optimistic:
“It’s not been easy, but we’re getting through it. The restorations have started, and that’s keeping us going.”
Fans can expect to see more of Kelvin’s resilience — and the farm’s ongoing recovery — in upcoming episodes of his ITV series.
