Kaleb Cooper and The John Bull Pub Team Up to Support Locals During Tough Times
Clarkson’s Farm Star Kaleb Cooper Supports Torquay Pub with New Community Campaign
Kaleb Cooper, star of Clarkson’s Farm, is helping to shine a spotlight on a local pub in Torquay, which has launched a new campaign aimed at encouraging community support throughout January.
The John Bull, located on Chatto Road in Torquay, is urging locals to participate in their “Two Friends, Two Pints, Twice a Week” campaign. The initiative encourages people to regularly visit their local pub, whether for alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic options, or simply to enjoy the social atmosphere. With the hospitality industry still reeling from a challenging year, the pub hopes the campaign will remind people of the importance of independent venues, especially as they struggle to stay afloat.
Landlady Claire, who manages the pub, stressed that the goal isn’t to promote excessive drinking, but to keep the pub’s doors open and maintain its role as a community hub. “A pub isn’t just for Christmas. It’s a community space where people can come together, especially during the colder, darker months,” she explained. “We want to encourage people to support their locals and keep the atmosphere alive.”
The John Bull recently garnered attention from Kaleb Cooper, who made a personalized video in December after the pub was shortlisted in Hawkstone Cider’s national Christmas tree giveaway. The message from Cooper thrilled the pub’s regulars and has helped draw attention to the small, independent venue.
Scott Evans, a local resident, also played a key role in the campaign by creating personalized promotional videos as part of his new business venture. Claire described this collaboration as a perfect example of “locals supporting locals,” showcasing the community spirit at the heart of the campaign.
In addition to its range of alcoholic drinks, The John Bull offers a variety of 0% and low-alcohol options, making it an ideal spot for those participating in Dry January. Claire emphasized how small acts of support from the community can make a significant difference in helping the pub survive during these tough times. “Hospitality is really suffering at the moment. If everyone supports their local pub just a little, it really does make a difference,” she said.
Kaleb Cooper is expected to visit The John Bull later in the year, adding to the pub’s growing popularity and further solidifying the community’s commitment to supporting independent venues.
