Jeremy Clarkson’s Comments Ignite Political Spat with Green Party Leader
Jeremy Clarkson and Green Party Leader Zack Polanski Clash Over “Personal Attack”
The Controversy Ignites
A war of words has erupted between Jeremy Clarkson and Green Party leader Zack Polanski after the TV host took aim at the politician in his latest newspaper column.
The 65-year-old Clarkson’s Farm star, known for his outspoken opinions and biting humor, described Polanski in mocking terms — comments which quickly sparked a furious response from the Green Party leader.
Clarkson’s Provocative Column
Writing in The Sunday Times (October 19), Clarkson began his column with a swipe at the newly elected Green Party leader.
“I’m greatly amused by Zack Polanski, who is the newly elected leader of the Green Party,” Clarkson wrote.
“He is constantly banging on about how he’s going to sort out the country, and I just sit there thinking, ‘Mate, you can’t even sort out your own teeth.’”
The former Top Gear presenter continued the jibe with another sharp remark:
“Honestly, it looks like he takes a picture of Shane MacGowan to the dentist.”
Clarkson, who has become a vocal critic of modern politics and environmental policies since launching his Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm, went on to question Polanski’s ability to deliver his tax and economic reform plans.
Polanski’s Swift and Furious Response
Zack Polanski, who was elected as the Green Party’s leader earlier this month, didn’t hold back in his reply. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Polanski shared a screenshot of Clarkson’s comments alongside a pointed response.
“I’ve got lots of things to say about Jeremy Clarkson. Really not worth it,” he wrote.
“He knows his game is over and so is resorting to personal attacks.”
The Green leader then urged his followers to “p*** him off instead” by joining the Green Party, linking to its membership page.
Polanski’s response quickly gained traction online, with supporters applauding his restraint and others calling out Clarkson for “playground-level insults.”
The Political Undercurrent
The exchange comes at a time when Clarkson himself has been teasing a possible foray into politics.
Earlier this month (October 12), the TV personality posted on X:
“People of Doncaster North. Are you happy with your MP? Would you like it if someone from your neck of the woods kicked him out?”
The message was widely interpreted as a jab at Labour MP Ed Miliband, who currently represents Doncaster North — and who has clashed with Clarkson in the past over farming and environmental policies.
Miliband Responds to Clarkson’s Political Tease
When asked about Clarkson’s comments during an interview on Sky News’ Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips, Energy Secretary Ed Miliband seemed unbothered.
“I think he is a sort of long-standing aspirant to my seat,” Miliband said.
“He said in 2013 that he was going to contest my seat. So look, it’s for other people to decide if they want to stand for Parliament, including in my seat.
I welcome all comers. Let’s see what happens.”
While Clarkson’s political ambitions remain uncertain, his latest remarks have reignited debate about his outspoken style — and whether his sharp humor crosses the line into personal territory.
Clarkson: Controversial but Unapologetic
Jeremy Clarkson has long been a lightning rod for controversy. From his Top Gear days to The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm, he’s built a career on bold opinions and unapologetic commentary.

This latest dust-up with Polanski is unlikely to change that reputation — if anything, it reinforces Clarkson’s status as one of Britain’s most polarizing yet popular public figures.
As for Zack Polanski, the exchange may have given his new leadership a publicity boost — albeit one delivered with Clarkson’s trademark sting.
