Jeremy Clarkson WINS latest planning battle over his pub The Farmer’s Dog
Jeremy Clarkson Wins Planning Approval for Car Park Expansion at The Farmer’s Dog Pub
The Battle for Parking Approval
Jeremy Clarkson has emerged victorious in a long-running battle for car park approval at his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, located near Burford, Oxfordshire. The TV star and Diddly Squat Farm owner sought permission to hard surface two areas outside his pub, a request that had been pending for nearly a year. Typically, similar applications are processed in just eight weeks, but Clarkson faced a longer wait before securing the go-ahead.

West Oxfordshire’s Support
The planning approval was granted last week, marking a significant moment in Clarkson’s ongoing efforts to expand his pub’s facilities. West Oxfordshire planning officer Kelly Murray backed Clarkson’s proposal, emphasizing the need for off-road parking to prevent cars from being parked on the A40 or nearby roads, which had caused damage to verges. Murray highlighted the importance of allowing parking for The Farmer’s Dog, especially given the popularity of Clarkson’s ventures, including Diddly Squat Farm.
Background of the Pub Purchase
Clarkson, who purchased the pub—previously known as The Windmill—in 2023, had offered the previous owner £1 million for the property within minutes of meeting her. The pub now sits on five acres of land, and its parking expansion will help accommodate the thousands of visitors flocking to the area, many of whom are drawn by Clarkson’s hit show Clarkson’s Farm.

A Popular Destination for Fans
The pub’s increased parking capacity is expected to help manage the growing number of visitors, especially as Clarkson’s Farm continues to attract attention. Clarkson has been filming for the upcoming fifth series of the show, and The Farmer’s Dog has become a must-visit spot for fans.
