Jeremy Clarkson to make major change at Cotswolds pub for 2026

Jeremy Clarkson Confirms Major Seating Change at The Farmer’s Dog Ahead of 2026

Jeremy Clarkson has announced a significant update at his Cotswolds pub, The Farmer’s Dog, as preparations begin for another busy year ahead.

The former Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenter purchased the Asthall-based pub, formerly known as The Windmill, for around £1 million in 2024. After months of renovation, the venue reopened in August of that year under its new name and quickly became one of the most talked-about pubs in the region.

Located near Burford, the pub has attracted visitors from across the UK, with many fans of Clarkson keen to experience the countryside venue for themselves.

A Popular Pub With Limited Availability

Since opening, The Farmer’s Dog has developed a reputation not only for its food and rural charm, but also for how difficult it can be to secure a table. Each time bookings are released, slots are often taken within minutes, leaving many would-be visitors disappointed.

That pattern continued when January bookings were released earlier this month. According to the pub, demand was so intense that the website briefly struggled to cope with the surge in traffic.

However, management has now confirmed that a change behind the scenes will allow a small number of additional tables to be made available.

Changes to Table Configuration

In a statement shared by The Farmer’s Dog, the team explained that recent adjustments to the pub’s seating layout have created extra capacity.

“As you’ll know, when January bookings went live at the start of December, they disappeared at their usual, alarming speed,” the statement said. “However, due to some recent changes to our table configuration, we’re able to release a small number of additional tables for January.”

The pub described the newly available bookings as a rare opportunity, encouraging those who had assumed a visit was impossible to try again while availability lasts.

A Welcome Opportunity for Fans

While the number of extra tables is limited, the announcement has been welcomed by fans who have struggled to secure reservations in the past. The pub’s light-hearted message described the release as a “festive bonus” and hinted that availability may not last long.

The Farmer’s Dog has become closely associated with Clarkson’s wider rural ventures, combining hospitality with the agricultural themes that viewers have come to associate with his recent television work.

Continued Presence on Clarkson’s Farm

The pub has also featured prominently in recent episodes of Clarkson’s Farm, which returned earlier this year on Amazon Prime. The series documented the challenges of launching and running the pub alongside the day-to-day pressures of farm life.

With season five of the show scheduled for release in 2026, the pub is expected to appear once again across the eight new episodes, continuing its role as part of Clarkson’s expanding countryside project.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As interest in The Farmer’s Dog shows no sign of slowing, the latest seating changes suggest the team is looking for practical ways to manage demand without altering the character of the venue.

For visitors hoping to experience one of the Cotswolds’ most talked-about pubs, the message is clear: a few more opportunities have opened up, but timing remains everything.
