Clarkson’s Oxfordshire holding has become a public-facing business as well as a working farm since Clarkson’s Farm began documenting his takeover in the last few years. He’s become the sole operator of the farm, where previously he had managed the land on contract to another farmer.

He bought roughly 1,000 acres in 2008, but only started running it himself in 2019 after the local farmer decided to retire.

While the addition of the donkey has received huge amounts of fanfare from fans, with the post reaching almost 100,000 likes on Instagram alone, Diddly Squat’s livestock programme has been repeatedly disrupted by bovine TB and the movement restrictions that come with it.

Clarkson has also been under huge pressure as he struggles with English weather and the large amount of rainfall, which has disrupted the growing of crops so far this season. Fortunately, this makes for the show’s best moments as he works to overcome these challenges – of which there are many.

Jeremy Clarkson announces Amazon Fresh collab - Farmers Guide

“Please welcome to Diddly Squat. New Ben,” he captioned alongside photos of the animal.
“Oh my god what a dashing donk,” one fan commented. “Look at that big sparkly eye.”

“Postin selfies jeremy,” [sic] another joked.

Diddly Squat has become famous as it became the home of Clarkson’s Farm, a farming show presented by Amazon to great success. It covers both arable work and livestock as the former Grand Tour presenter tries to find some level of profit. Fortunately, he’s been able to leverage his fame and success to create other brands from this work, with his Hawkstone lager boasting immense sales at £21.3million for the year to March 2025.

Cattle, however, is still a huge issue. Clarkson has previously discussed the issue of TB on the farm, which is currently in lockdown due to an outbreak.

As for when viewers might see New Ben on screen, Amazon’s own programme page for series five says only that it is coming in 2026 and that the release date will be updated when confirmed, while some reports have suggested a May release date, but that has not been officially confirmed yet.
