Clarkson’s Farm star breaks silence on ‘fake’ scene with Jeremy Clarkson
Harriet Cowan Addresses Claims of a “Fake” Moment on Clarkson’s Farm
Harriet Cowan has spoken publicly for the first time about claims that one of her early scenes with Jeremy Clarkson was staged or exaggerated.
The moment in question appeared in the fourth series of Clarkson’s Farm, where Cowan joined the team at Diddly Squat Farm as a temporary replacement for Kaleb Cooper.

Filling In for Kaleb Cooper
Cowan, a 24-year-old nurse and farmhand, stepped in while Cooper took time away from the 1,000-acre Oxfordshire farm to tour with his live show, The World According to Kaleb. Her arrival introduced viewers to a new dynamic on the farm, particularly during her first on-screen exchange with Clarkson.
In that scene, Cowan admitted she had never watched a full episode of Clarkson’s Farm, explaining that she had only seen short clips online rather than the full series.
The Scene That Sparked Debate
The exchange raised eyebrows among some viewers, who questioned whether the moment was genuine. Cowan later addressed those doubts during a conversation with Emily Clarkson on the podcast Should I Delete That?.
Emily Clarkson asked Cowan about her lifestyle away from filming, including whether she ever had time to relax at home. That prompted Cowan to clarify the context behind the now-discussed scene.

“It Looked Fake, But It Wasn’t”
Cowan acknowledged that the moment may have appeared staged on screen but insisted it reflected her real life.
She explained that she and her partner rarely watch television, adding that exhaustion from long working days often means any attempt to sit down and relax quickly turns into sleep. According to Cowan, this is why her response to Clarkson was entirely authentic.
“We genuinely don’t watch telly,” she said, explaining that even short periods of rest are precious after demanding days on the farm.
A Genuine Reflection of Farm Life
Cowan’s comments offer insight into the realities behind the cameras at Diddly Squat Farm. While Clarkson’s Farm is carefully edited for television, she stressed that her reaction was not scripted, but a truthful reflection of how little downtime farm work allows.
Her explanation has helped put to rest speculation about the scene, reinforcing the idea that many of the show’s lighter moments are rooted in genuine interactions rather than performance.

A Brief but Memorable Role
Although her appearance on the series was temporary, Cowan made a strong impression with viewers. Her candid remarks have added further perspective on how the programme balances real farm life with television storytelling — and why some moments may look unusual without the full context.
