Clarkson’s Farm Star Breaks Silence After Leaving the Show
Harriet Cowan Reveals the Truth After Leaving Clarkson’s Farm
Clarkson’s Farm fans were surprised when newcomer Harriet Cowan quietly stepped away from the hit Prime Video series midway through the latest season. Now, the 24-year-old farmhand from Derbyshire is speaking out — and sharing what really happens behind the scenes at Diddly Squat Farm.
A New Face on the Farm
Cowan joined the series earlier this year, stepping in for fan favourite Kaleb Cooper while he traveled on tour. Despite being a temporary addition, she quickly won over viewers with her calm competence, farming skill, and easy on-screen chemistry with Jeremy Clarkson.
Her role, however, was always meant to be short-term.
Once Kaleb returned, Cowan quietly exited the series, leaving fans wondering whether she might ever return.
“The Show Is Very Real” — Cowan Defends Clarkson’s Farm
Speaking to Great British Life, Harriet Cowan revealed what many viewers have speculated for years: Clarkson’s Farm is not scripted.
Unlike Clarkson’s previous shows — Top Gear and The Grand Tour — which relied on planned comedy and structure, Cowan said the farming series is filmed exactly as events unfold.
“The show itself is very real and gives a huge insight into farming,” she said.
“Everything that happens is genuinely in real time.”
She also shared how she first got involved.
According to Cowan, Charlie Ireland reached out when Kaleb needed a temporary replacement.
“Charlie contacted me initially as Kaleb was going on tour and they wanted someone experienced to help whilst he was away.”
The experience, she said, allowed her to speak up for the industry she loves.
“I’m so glad I became involved, as it’s given me a platform to advocate for British farming.”

A Positive Departure — with an Open Door for a Return
Although her on-screen time was brief, Cowan said her departure wasn’t dramatic — it was simply the moment her help was no longer required.
Speaking previously on BBC Breakfast, she confirmed that while she has no current plans to return, the door is not closed.
“We’ve always left it very open. I’m here if he needs me, but no plans at the minute.
If he needs me, I’m here.”
Her comments leave hope for fans who want to see her back on the farm alongside Kaleb, Charlie, Gerald, and Lisa Hogan.
A Breakout Star Fans Didn’t Expect
Though she appeared in only a portion of the season, Cowan’s steady presence and authentic farming experience made an instant impression on viewers. Many praised her for bringing a fresh, grounded dynamic to the show — especially during moments when Clarkson needed real technical help.
Her honesty about the show’s authenticity also reinforces why Clarkson’s Farm has been praised by farmers and audiences alike:
it showcases farming accurately, emotionally, and without manufactured drama.
What’s Next for Harriet Cowan?
While Cowan hasn’t confirmed any future TV roles, she remains active in farming and has expressed gratitude for the unexpected spotlight the show brought her.
Her return is not guaranteed — but as she made clear, she’s only a phone call away.
And with the show entering new phases and new challenges, viewers may very well see Harriet Cowan back at Diddly Squat Farm sooner than expected.
