Clarkson Confesses Farmhouse Has Turned Into a Puppy Playground

Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Puppies Bring Joy—and Chaos

A Surprise Addition at the Farm

Life at Diddly Squat Farm has never been quiet, but Jeremy Clarkson recently admitted he has even less time to relax thanks to a new wave of arrivals. In July, Clarkson’s red-fox Labrador, Arya, delivered a litter of 11 puppies, turning the Oxfordshire farm into a whirlwind of noise, fur, and boundless energy.

While many of the puppies have already been adopted into new homes, Clarkson decided to keep two of them at Diddly Squat. That choice, however, has left the 65-year-old former Top Gear host busier than ever.

Endless Mess and Mischief

Clarkson humorously revealed in his column for The Sun that the puppies have left him constantly on clean-up duty:

“So last night, while I was trying to cook my supper, I had to down tools every 4.2 seconds to mop up a puddle or a mini mountain.”

He went on to joke that he is “fascinated” by the sheer volume of waste produced by the tiny pups:

“The weight of poo they generate exceeds the amount of food I’m giving them.”

According to Clarkson, the same applies to water intake: “Two sips of water” quickly becomes “15 gallons” of wee.

When they’re not busy making a mess, the puppies entertain themselves by chewing on shoes, tugging curtains, or exploring every corner of the farmhouse. Clarkson confessed:

“I literally can’t turn my back for a second. And here’s the thing. They are so adorable, I don’t want to.”

An Emotional Goodbye

Earlier this month, Clarkson shared a heartfelt moment on Instagram as several of Arya’s puppies departed with their new families. The video showed the young dogs meeting their new owners, set to James Blunt’s Goodbye My Lover. Clarkson captioned it:

“Goodbye my puppies, goodbye my friends, we have loved you so much.”

Joy and Heartbreak

The birth of the litter was a family event. Arya gave birth while Clarkson and his partner Lisa Hogan acted as “midwives”—all while England’s Lionesses were winning the Euro 2024 final.

However, the joy was tinged with sadness when one of the puppies died shortly after birth. Clarkson admitted the loss was heartbreaking, but the remaining pups quickly became a source of comfort and delight.

Lisa Hogan’s Puppy Update

Lisa Hogan has been closely involved in caring for Arya and the puppies. A week after their birth, she provided fans with an update:

  • Arya was “being amazing” and even starting to join short walks again.
  • The smallest pup required hand feeding, with Lisa bottle-feeding to ensure steady growth.
  • Encouragingly, she reported that all of the puppies were gaining weight, with some even doubling in size within the first week.

The Farmhouse Transformation

Between Clarkson’s farming duties, his pub business, and television projects, the last thing he expected was to be knee-deep in puppy training. Yet the Diddly Squat farmhouse has been transformed into a lively playground of wagging tails and endless activity.

Despite the chaos, Clarkson admitted he wouldn’t change a thing. The puppies, he said, bring a kind of joy and energy that makes even the constant clean-up worth it.
