Jake Anderson Defies the Storm — Lands His Biggest Crab Haul Yet on Deadliest Catch Season 21!
After days of struggle, the refrigeration system is finally fixed — a small victory in what has been a nightmare stretch at sea. The crew’s last good sign came from the northeast, so the captain grabs his gear and heads that way.

But nature has other plans. The sea begins to roar.
“Careful,” the skipper warns. “In a typhoon, you can only set two ways — with it or against it. And setting with it can be deadly. If a wave comes over, it can roll the boat, hit her square on the side, flood the forepeak, and sink her in seconds.”
The crew braces as towering walls of water rise ahead.
“Oh man, look at that… it’s huge!” someone shouts. The boat sways violently. “Be careful — this one’s coming right here!”
Waves crash with relentless force.
“It’s so majestic, but so dangerous,” another voice says. “It’s like getting in a cage with a lion.”
A 25-foot wave slams the deck.
“Hang on! Watch your rail!”
They drop into the valley between waves, momentarily disappearing from sight. The sea becomes chaos — spray, wind, and pounding water.
Then — a roar of relief.
“Oh my God, we’re okay!”
“Good job, guys,” the captain calls out. “But we’ve got to be careful. Skipper’s watching out for us — he’s our third eye.”
The storm worsens. The captain makes a snap decision.
“All right, guys. Emergency set. Set ’em as fast as you can. I don’t care where they land — I just want my crew inside and safe. This is survival now!”
The deck erupts in movement. Pots are dumped blindly overboard.
“Move, move, move!”
“One mistake out here,” the captain mutters, “and you die.”
In the chaos, he finds a moment to call home.
“Jenna, Aiden’s birthday going okay?”
“Yeah,” she says softly. “It’s fine.”
“I’m sitting out here in 20-foot seas,” he sighs. “I’m so sorry I’m not there.”
“That’s okay,” she replies.
Back on deck, the first pot of the string comes up. Every face leans forward — exhausted, desperate.
“Here goes nothing,” the captain says. “If I don’t get this crab to the dock soon, we’re all screwed.”
The pot breaks the surface.
“Come on… let me see it…”
And then —
“There’s some life!”
“Boom shaka-laka! Yeah!”
A rare moment of triumph amid the fury of the storm. Out here, survival isn’t guaranteed — but for now, the sea has spared them.
