Ancient Iron Spike Unearthed – The Secret Behind the Nail Reveals a Treasure Clue ? | The Curse of Oak Island
Uncovering the Secrets of Oak Island: A New Discovery in the Swamp
For years, the Laginas and their team have been uncovering astonishing man-made structures buried beneath the swamp on Oak Island. These discoveries, dating from 1200 to 1750 AD, have fueled speculation that the area holds vital clues to a long-lost treasure. This season, after unearthing wooden survey stakes and sections of a cobblestone pathway, the team made a stunning discovery—an empty slate and brick vault-like structure in the northern region of the swamp.
A Pathway to Hidden Riches?
Following their latest find, the team turned their attention several yards to the north, hoping to locate additional sections of the cobblestone pathway. The discovery of yet another wooden survey stake—similar to others previously found—suggests that they are closing in on more structural remains. Could these markers lead to another hidden chamber containing valuable artifacts?
As they continued their excavation, the team unearthed a mysterious iron spike and what appeared to be a chisel. These tools could be remnants of a past operation connected to the cobblestone pathway. If so, they might indicate that another vault-like structure remains buried nearby, awaiting discovery.

A Leather Clue from the Past
Adding to the intrigue, the team uncovered a thick, well-preserved leather fragment—likely the sole of an old boot. Just a week earlier, similar leather pieces had been found in the same region. If experts can accurately date these artifacts, they might help identify who was working in the swamp centuries ago.
Connecting the Discovery to Anthony Graves
Back at the Oak Island Research Center, leather expert Joe Landry examined the fragments and determined they were likely from a boot dating between 1830 and 1900. This timeframe coincides with the period when Anthony Graves, a farmer who once owned most of Oak Island, mysteriously began spending Spanish silver coins despite never taking part in treasure hunts.
Graves’ unexplained wealth has long been a mystery. The fact that these artifacts were found near the recently uncovered vault raises new questions: Could Graves have discovered treasure hidden in the swamp? And if so, is there still more left to be found?
The Hunt for More Clues
With mounting evidence pointing toward an undiscovered vault, the team remains determined to continue their search. Every new artifact brings them closer to piecing together the history of Oak Island and its elusive treasure.
As the excavation progresses, the swamp continues to guard its secrets—but for how much longer?
