Ancient Coins and Templar Links: New Breakthroughs on Oak Island

A New Season of Discoveries Begins
The mystery of Oak Island continues to captivate treasure hunters and historians alike. As a new season of exploration begins, the team is more determined than ever to uncover the truth behind the 228-year-old legend.
“We’re closer than ever,” said Marty Lagina, co-leader of the Oak Island team. “This year, we’re throwing every resource we have at solving this mystery.”
Recent excavations have already led to significant findings, including multiple ancient coins—some dating back to the Roman era. These discoveries raise new questions about who might have visited the island centuries, or even millennia, ago.

Ancient Coins Unearthed on Lot 5
One of the most promising excavation sites this season is Lot 5, located on the western side of Oak Island. This area has already yielded several significant artifacts, including ancient coins discovered just days ago.
Treasure hunter Gary Drayton, using advanced metal detection equipment, recently uncovered yet another coin. “This one looks really interesting,” Drayton remarked. “It has markings similar to the others we’ve found.”
To determine the historical significance of these coins, the team brought in numismatic expert Sandy Campbell for further analysis. The results were astonishing.
Expert Analysis: Coins from Multiple Civilizations
Campbell identified several key findings among the coins recovered:
- A 16th-century British Tudor coin – featuring the iconic portcullis symbol, which still appears on modern British currency.
- A Roman coin dating between 100 and 300 AD – raising speculation about early European contact with North America.
- An ancient Indian coin from the 6th to 8th century – adding to evidence of global connections.
- Another Roman-era coin, possibly from the BC era – suggesting the presence of an unknown historical force on Oak Island.
“These coins tell a story,” Campbell explained. “Someone—perhaps a traveler or a secretive group—brought them to Oak Island long before Europeans officially arrived in the Americas.”
Knights Templar and the Oak Island Connection
The discovery of Roman and medieval coins has reignited theories connecting Oak Island to the Knights Templar.
In 2016, historian Zena Halpern revealed what she claimed was a 14th-century map of Oak Island, allegedly drawn by the Templars. Another map, dating back to the 12th century, suggested the Templars had explored Nova Scotia centuries before Columbus reached the New World.
Over the years, the Oak Island team has traveled to England, Portugal, and Italy, investigating Templar sites. They have found architectural similarities, cryptic symbols, and even medieval carvings that resemble those found on the island.
“These discoveries could finally confirm that the Templars—or someone with similar motives—visited Oak Island and left behind a hidden treasure,” said Rick Lagina.
Expanding the Search: Lot 32 and the Swamp Area
While excavations on Lot 5 have been promising, the team is also expanding its search to Lot 32, near Oak Island’s mysterious swamp. Some historians believe this area may have served as a hidden docking site, used to unload cargo centuries ago.
While scanning the area, Drayton and his team uncovered yet another coin, potentially dating back to the 17th century British colonial period. If confirmed, this could provide further evidence of Oak Island’s role in global trade—or a hidden treasure operation.
Investigating Samuel Ball’s Mysterious Wealth
Another intriguing site under investigation is Lot 25, the former home of Samuel Ball. A former American slave who escaped to Nova Scotia, Ball became one of the wealthiest men in the region, leading many to speculate that he may have discovered part of Oak Island’s legendary treasure.
Using advanced metal detection techniques, the team discovered yet another old coin on Ball’s property—further fueling theories that he may have uncovered something valuable during his lifetime.
Conclusion: Closer Than Ever to the Truth
With a growing collection of ancient coins—including Roman, British, Indian, and Chinese artifacts—the Oak Island mystery continues to deepen.
“This is more than just a legend,” said Rick Lagina. “We’re finding real, historical evidence that someone—long before modern explorers—was here. And we won’t stop until we uncover the truth.”
As excavation efforts continue, all eyes remain on Oak Island. Will this be the year the world finally learns the island’s secrets?
