A New Theory Around the Money Pit

Oak Island has spent more than 200 years resisting answers. The Money Pit, first discovered in 1795, has produced wood layers, strange artifacts, possible flood traps, and endless theories about what may still be hidden below.

Now, Vanessa Lucido and her ROC Equipment team are being pulled into a new possibility: a deep target that may not simply belong to the known Money Pit system, but to a hidden structure marked by old stones, maps, and unexplained underground voids.

The Goodwin Map Returns

The latest lead begins with a rediscovered map connected to William B. Goodwin, a historian who had long been fascinated by Oak Island.

His notes described carved stones, marked boulders, and possible treasure caches across Lots 1 and 21. At first, the map sounded almost impossible to trust. But when the team began checking the locations, the markers started appearing exactly where the map suggested.

That changed the mood of the search.

Stones, Symbols and a Hidden Pattern

The team located several unusual stones, including one marked with an X, another with square-like carvings, and a kidney-shaped stone positioned according to the map’s measurements.

Then came a split boulder, described as if it had been broken open by force. Beneath it, Gary Drayton’s detector hit on an old forged spike. The find suggested the stones were not random landmarks, but part of a deliberate marking system.

Vanessa Lucido Pushes the Drill Deeper

With the map gaining credibility, Vanessa Lucido’s crew began drilling in areas that had not been properly tested before.

At depth, the drill recovered burned wood, hand-cut timber, metal traces, and a fragile textile fragment. These were not ordinary soil layers. They suggested that someone may have built, sealed, or buried something deep underground.

The most important moment came when the drill entered an open void around 160 to 170 feet down.

A Chamber Beneath Lots 1 and 21

A borehole camera was lowered into the cavity, revealing angular stonework, fitted timber, and what appeared to be a structured underground space.

The chamber did not look like a natural pocket. Its walls appeared supported and arranged with purpose. Inside, the camera picked up a metallic rectangular object covered in sediment, possibly a chest, case, or container.

Then the camera caught another detail: a faint X carved into the wall, matching the symbol found on the surface boulder.

A Possible New Vault System

The discovery raises a major question.

Is this an unknown extension of the Money Pit mystery, or a separate vault system hidden outside the standard search grid?

The location, west of the known Money Pit pattern, makes the find especially intriguing. If the Goodwin map truly points to this chamber, it could suggest that Oak Island’s secret was never limited to one pit.

The Next Step

Vanessa’s conclusion is clear: drilling is no longer enough.

To understand what lies inside, the team would need a controlled excavation, with engineers, safety crews, permits, and a full structural plan.

For now, the chamber remains a mystery. But if the camera images and recovered samples hold up, this may become one of the most important new targets in the Oak Island search.
