Parker Schnabel’s Crew Hits Their BEST Cleanup of the Season | GOLD RUSH SEASON 15

Parker Schnabel’s High-Stakes Mining Season: A Battle for 10,000 Ounces

A Rocky Start Turns into Progress

After a difficult beginning to the mining season, Parker Schnabel and his crew are finally finding their rhythm. With three wash plants running at full capacity, the team has just pulled in their biggest gold haul yet, proving that their hard work is paying off. However, running three wash plants simultaneously is pure chaos, pushing both the crew and equipment to their limits.

Despite the slowest start of his career, Parker has no choice but to take this aggressive approach if he wants to salvage his season and hit his ambitious 10,000-ounce target.

Managing Three Sites in a High-Stakes Operation

With the season slipping away, Parker has divided his crew across three key mining sites:

  • Indian River: A small team is processing Keenan Stewart’s pay dirt.
  • Bridge Cut: The crew is stripping the top layer of a massive 114-acre claim.
  • Long Cut: After mining out the first half of a 20-acre section, the team must relocate Rock Sand, one of the wash plants, to a new position.

To maximize efficiency, Parker decides to move Rock Sand outside the pit rather than setting it up inside. This strategy allows for more efficient overburden removal and ensures smoother operations for the next season. Over the past eight weeks, the crew has stripped 10 acres of land, but the second half of the long cut still needs to be tackled.

Moving Rock Sand: A Logistical Nightmare

Relocating Rock Sand more than a mile upstream is a high-risk operation that must be completed before the night shift begins. As the team works swiftly to dismantle and reassemble the plant, every step must be executed with precision.

Tyson leads the crew in disassembling the feeder, removing the stacker, digging out the pipeline, and relocating the water pump and generator. “Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast,” Tyson reminds the team as they carefully transport each component. The plant is reassembled in just five hours—but then a new problem arises: no water.

A Costly Pump Failure Nearly Derails Operations

Earlier in the season, Parker invested $180,000 in a high-powered pump capable of pushing 77,000 gallons per minute. However, when the team tries to start it, nothing happens. Upon inspection, they discover an airlock in the system caused by a loose intake hose. After tightening the bolts, water finally begins flowing, and Rock Sand is back in action.

A Trial by Fire for a Young Crew Member

With Rock Sand operational, Parker entrusts 20-year-old Tav Peterson with feeding the wash plant—a crucial task requiring precision and skill. It’s his first time running the loader solo, and the learning curve is steep.

Six hours into his shift, Tav struggles to keep up, and then disaster strikes: the hopper jams. Unsure of what to do, he calls for help. Tyson and Mitch quickly assess the situation and discover that a large rock has slipped through the grizzly bars, blocking material flow.

“If he had kept running it, that rock would have cut the belt, and we’d be replacing it right now,” Mitch says. Thanks to Tav’s quick thinking and willingness to ask for help, a major disaster is avoided.

The Moment of Truth: The Biggest Gold Cleanup Yet

With Rock Sand back in operation, the crew hopes for a strong cleanup. The first half of the long cut had only produced 138 ounces per week—far below expectations. As the team gathers for the gold weigh-in, anticipation fills the air.

Chris Douet carefully weighs the gold from each wash plant:

  • Rock Sand: 222 ounces
  • Big Red (processing pay dirt from Bridge Cut): 82.8 ounces ($127,000)
  • Big Bob (running 24/7 at Keenan Stewart’s claim): 368 ounces ($867,000)

In total, the team pulls in a massive 652 ounces, bringing their season total to 2,453 ounces.

A Glimmer of Hope, But Challenges Remain

The incredible cleanup boosts morale, but Parker knows sustaining this momentum will be the true test. With only a few weeks left in the season, every wash plant must run at full capacity, and every ounce of pay dirt must be processed efficiently.

Energized by their best cleanup yet, the crew is determined to keep pushing forward. If they maintain this pace, they just might turn the season into a record-breaking success.
